Gael Gildernew, worked in Local Government for 10 years prior to being elected as Councillor to the Clogher Valley DEA of Mid Ulster District Council (MUDC) in May 2023. Since taking office, Gael has served actively across a range of committees and strategic partnerships that shape development and community wellbeing in the district. She sits on both the Development Committee and Policy and Resources Committees within Council. She is also a member of several outside bodies, including the A5/N2 Cross-Border Committee, which she chaired in 2024/2025, Chair of MUDC’s Tourism Development Group and sits on; Caledon Regeneration Partnership Board, Community Organisation’s of South Tyrone Area Board (COSTA), Sliabh Beagh Partnership and the Tullyvar Joint Committee.
Gael was appointed as the Local Government Representative for MUDC on the Southern Trust Area Integrated Partnership Board (AIPB) in 2024, non-remunerated and the time commitment is 1 day per month.
Gael graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a MSc degree in ‘Business for Agri Food and Rural Enterprise, specialising in Business Communications in 2019.
